Dust Bunnies Galore

This is a lesson stating that you shouldn't get your dslr sensor in as bad a state as this one.
I know it's a picture of the daytime sky at f22 but those shadows still show through the scope or fast lens. I did get it commercially cleaned, and will probably do it myself next time.
The trick is not to leave the camera sans lens for too long, and when it is - point in down so the dust doesn't fall onto it.

  1. Just wondering how long it took for all those bunnies to accumulate....makes me scared to do a similar test on mine!....Pete

  2. Couple of years of neglect Pete, and for quite a while they were locked there protected by the cls filter. makes you think doesn't it.

  3. It will be interesting to see just how clean the cls keeps things from now on if you aren't using the camera for non-astro purposes. I'm thinking it might be worth getting a clear glass filter (or nd) if such a thing is available in a similar mount to the cls.
